| USES:
Propecia is an androgen hormone inhibitor designed to treat
male pattern hair loss. It is to be used by MEN ONLY. |
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell
your doctor about any medicines that you use, (including both prescription
and non-prescription) particularly if you take medicine for high blood
pressure or MAO inhibitors (for example, furazolidone, selegiline,
phenelzine or tranylcypromine) or other weight loss drugs. Avoid any
drugs that may increase your heart rate or blood pressure (known as
"stimulants") like decongestants or caffeine. Over-the-counter
cough and cold medicine often contain decongestants.
Before using: As some medicines or medical
conditions may interact with this medicine, you should tell your doctor
about any medicines that you use, (including both prescription and
non-prescription). Tell your doctor about any other medical conditions
or allergies that you may have, or if you are pregnant. Propecia is
not recommended for use by females. Consult your doctor or pharmacist
if you have any questions or worries about using this medicine.
Directions: To use Propecia, follow
the instructions for use supplied by your doctor. Consult your doctor
or pharmacist about any queries that you may have about this medicine.
Propecia may be taken once daily on an empty stomach.
Storage: Propecia should be stored at
room temperature (between 59 and 86 degrees F and 15 and 30 degrees
C) in a tightly-closed container. Keep this medicine away from moisture.
Missed Dose: If you miss a dose of Propecia,
take it as soon as possible. If you do not remember to take your dose
until the next day, skip the missed dose and return to your regular
dosing schedule. Never take 2 doses at one time.
Cautions: This medicine may take several
months to work. Consult your doctor before you stop taking this medicine.
If you stop taking this medicine, within 12 months you will return
to the same amount of baldness as when you started. While taking this
medicine, you should keep all doctor and laboratory appointments.
You must check with you doctor or pharmacist before you begin taking
any new medicine, either prescription or non- prescription. Women
who are pregnant or who may become pregnant should not handle crushed
or broken tablets of this medicine. Pregnant women who come in contact
with crushed or broken tablets of this medicine must contact their
doctor immediately.
Possible side effects: While taking
Propecia, a side effect that may occur is a change in sexual function.
If this side effect continues or become troublesome, consult your
doctor. If you experience side effects or symptoms of toxicity, such
as skin rash or swelling of the lips, you must consult a doctor immediately.
If, while taking this medicine, you notice any other effects that
not listed here, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
If you take too much: If you think that
you have taken an overdose of this medicine, you must contact your
local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Additional information: This medicine
should not be shared with people for whom it was not prescribed. Do
not use this medication for any other health conditions. Propecia,
as with all medicines, should be kept out of the reach of children.
If using Propecia for extended periods of time, obtain refills before
your supply runs out.
