USES: Viagra
is used to treat male sexual function problems (erection dysfunction).
HOW TO USE THIS MEDICATION: Viagra is
taken orally, as needed, between four hours and one-half hour before
sexual activity. Taking Viagra about one hour before sexual activity
is most effective. Take this medication only as directed (usually
once daily as needed). Sildenafil works with any sexual stimulation
to help achieve an erection.
SIDE EFFECTS: When taking Viagra, you
may suffer from headaches, stomach upset, nasal stuffiness, flushes,
diarrhea and dizziness. If any of these side effects persist or become
troublesome, consult your doctor immediately.
PRECAUTIONS: Inform your doctor of your
complete medical history (particularly if you suffer from any allergies
(especially drug allergies). Also inform your doctor if you have any
penis conditions (such as fibrosis/scarring). You must tell your doctor
if you have sickle cell anemia, blood system cancers (such as leukemia
or myeloma), or Peyronie's disease, history of painful/prolonged erection
(priapism), eye problems (retina diseases), liver or kidney disease,
bleeding disorders or active stomach ulcers, heart diseases, stroke
or severe high or low blood pressure.
It is advised to limit alcohol use while taking this medication as
it can increase the severity of unwanted side effects. When rising
from a seated or lying position, get up slowly as to avoid dizziness
and light-headedness. Caution is advised to the elderly, as they may
be more sensitive to the side effects of this drug.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor
about any medicines that you use, (including both prescription and
non-prescription) particularly if you take any nitrate medications
(for example, nitroglycerin or isosorbide dinitrate), nitroprusside
(any "nitric oxide donor" medicines), erythromycin, azole
antifungals (e.g., itraconazole, ketoconazole), mibefradil, cimetidine,
rifamycins (for example, rifampin) or high blood pressure medicines
NOTES: Viagra should not be shared with
others, as they may have a problem that cannot effectively be treated
using this drug. Use of Viagra does not act as protection against
any sexually transmitted diseases (for example, HIV, Hepatitis B,
gonorrhea).
MISSED DOSE: Not applicable.
STORAGE: Store Viagra at room temperature.
Keep away from moisture and sunlight. Viagra, as with all medications,
should be kept out of the reach of children.
