This medicine is a prescription weight-control
medication, which can be used for the long-term treatment of significant
obesity.
Xenical can also help to improve risk factors, such as high cholesterol,
high blood sugar and high blood pressure. These other risks, if not
treated, could lead to other diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.
Just one Xenical capsule contains 120 mg of orlistat, the active substance
which acts as a lipase inhibitor.
Xenical is designed to absorb the fat in your body rather than suppressing
your appetite. It is designed for long term use and has shown effectiveness
in use for 1-2 years. Xenical inhibits dietary fats from being absorbed
by the body, allowing about 30% of the fat consumed in a meal to pass
through your body undigested. This process helps you to reduce and
maintain your weight. It also helps to minimize the chances of you
regaining any weight.
XENICAL CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Xenical
allergy or chronic malabsorption syndromes (such as sprue or steatorrhea).
This medicine is not intended to be used by children. Neither should
it be used by pregnant or nursing women.
PRECAUTIONS: Xenical can cause changes
in your bowel habits, such as oily or fatty stools. This is because

DOSAGE: Xenical should be taken with

will benefit from Xenical's actions. Swallow this medicine with water.
SIDE EFFECTS: While using Xenical, you
may experience loose stools and increased gas or flatulence. These
side effects are usually mild and occur at the beginning of treatment.
They should go away after a short period of time and are often experienced
after meals which contain high levels of fat. These symptoms should
disappear if you continue treatment and keep to your recommended diet.
